The Siemens 3RT2327-2BG40 is a robust and reliable SIRIUS power contactor designed for efficient switching of non-inductive or weakly inductive loads in AC-1 applications. With its 4-pole configuration, 50A current rating (at 400V/40°C), and a 125V DC coil, this contactor offers versatile performance for a wide range of industrial power control requirements. Featuring convenient spring-loaded terminals and integrated auxiliary contacts (1 NO + 1 NC), the 3RT2327-2BG40 ensures quick, secure connections and enhanced control capabilities within a compact S0 size.
Overview
The Siemens 3RT2327-2BG40 is a core component of the SIRIUS modular system, known for its high quality, reliability, and ease of integration into industrial control panels. This 4-pole contactor is specifically engineered for AC-1 duty, making it ideal for applications involving the switching of resistive loads, heating, or lighting. The 125V DC coil provides stable and efficient operation, while the spring-loaded terminals simplify wiring, reducing installation time and ensuring a vibration-proof connection.
Benefit
- Reliable Performance: Built to Siemens’ high quality standards, ensuring long-term operation and reduced downtime.
- Efficient Power Switching: Optimized for AC-1 loads, providing efficient control of resistive heating, lighting, and distribution systems.
- Fast and Secure Wiring: Spring-loaded terminals enable quick, tool-free wiring, improving installation efficiency and connection reliability.
- Integrated Auxiliary Contacts: The built-in 1 NO + 1 NC contacts offer immediate feedback and control options without needing additional modules.
- Compact Design: S0 size allows for space-saving installation in control cabinets.
- Enhanced Safety: Designed with comprehensive protection considerations for short-circuit, overload, and overvoltage.
- Versatile Application: Suitable for a wide range of industrial power control scenarios, including disconnecting loads, power generation plants from the grid, and transfer switching.
- Electromagnetic Compatibility: Fulfills requirements for environment category A, ensuring stable operation in industrial environments.
Function
The Siemens 3RT2327-2BG40 Contactor serves as an electrically operated switch for controlling the flow of electrical power to a load. When the 125V DC control voltage is applied to the coil (A1-A2), an electromagnetic field is generated, pulling the main contacts closed and allowing current to pass to the connected load. When the control voltage is removed, the magnetic field collapses, and springs open the main contacts, disconnecting the load. The integrated auxiliary contacts switch simultaneously with the main contacts, providing signals for interlocking, status indication, or further control circuit operations.
Standards & Protection:
- Standards Compliant: Adheres to international standards including IEC 60947-1, IEC 60947-4-1, and IEC 60947-5-1 (for auxiliary switches), ensuring product safety and performance.
- Device Connection Protection: All connections require protection against overload and short circuits. Refer to technical data sheets and configuration manuals for specific guidance on protecting main, auxiliary, and control supply voltage connections.
- Overvoltage Protection: The 3RT23 contactors can be retrofitted with surge suppressors (RC elements, varistors, diodes) for damping opening surges in the coil, protecting sensitive components.
- Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC): Meets requirements for environment category A. Specific configuration notes in the Equipment Manual should be observed when used with frequency converters.
Connection Methods:
- Main Circuit: Features spring-loaded terminals with a convenient plug-in design for the device connector, ensuring reliable and fast connections for the main power circuit.
- Auxiliary and Control Circuit: Equipped with spring-loaded terminals for the auxiliary contacts and control supply voltage connections, providing consistent and secure wiring.
Contact Reliability of Auxiliary Contacts:
Designed for high contact reliability, especially when switching low voltages (≤ 110 V) and low currents (≤ 100 mA). These auxiliary contacts are particularly suitable for solid-state circuits with currents ≥ 1 mA at voltages of 17 V and higher.
Motor Protection (Not directly for motor loads but for system integration):
For overload protection of motor-driven loads, the 3RT23 contactors are compatible with Siemens 3RU2 thermal overload relays or 3RB3 electronic overload relays, which can be directly mounted. Note: This 3RT2327-2BG40 is specifically for AC-1 loads; for motor loads (AC-3), special versions of 3RT23 contactors are available.
Operating Mechanism:
This 3RT23 contactor features a conventional DC operating mechanism, controlled via the A1-A2 terminals with a nominal voltage of 125V DC.
Maintenance & Expansion:
- Solenoid Coil Replacement: The solenoid coil can be replaced if needed.
- Auxiliary Contacts Expansion: The basic unit (which includes 1 NO + 1 NC integrated auxiliary contacts) can be expanded with additional auxiliary switches. Refer to the “Auxiliary switches, instantaneous → Overview” for detailed information on permissible configurations.
- Accessories and Spare Parts: A wide range of accessories and spare parts are available for SIRIUS 3RT2 contactors to meet various application requirements and maintenance needs.
Application
