Function
The Siemens 3RT2017-2AP61 functions as an electromechanical switch. When the 220 V/240 V AC coil is energized, it generates a magnetic field that pulls the main contacts together. This action closes the circuit, allowing a high current to flow to the connected load (e.g., an electric motor).
When the coil is de-energized, the contacts open, interrupting the power supply to the load. The 1 NO auxiliary contact operates in parallel with the main contacts, providing a signal to a PLC or control system indicating the contactor’s status. The spring-loaded terminals ensure a secure, maintenance-free electrical connection.
