Device Connection Protection: All connections require appropriate short-circuit and overload protection. For device combinations (contactor with overload relay or circuit breaker), consult the Digital or standard Configuration Manuals for load feeders.

Auxiliary and Control Circuit Protection: Protection for auxiliary contacts is detailed in the technical product data sheet. For control supply voltage, consider relevant standards for control panel configuration, suitable power supply selection (e.g., current-limiting), and the contactor’s load characteristics (inrush, switch-on, holding power). Miniature or circuit breakers are recommended for control circuits.

Overvoltage Protection: 3RT23 contactors can be retrofitted with surge suppressors (RC elements, varistors, diodes) for damping opening surges in the coil. Note that damping increases break, opening, and closing delay times.

Connection Methods

• Main Circuit: Screw terminals with box terminal. Direct connection via cable lugs is possible by removing the box terminal.
• Auxiliary and Control Circuit: Screw terminals for reliable connection.

Operating Mechanism:

The 3RT23 series offers versions with conventional AC or DC operating mechanisms, or wide-range solid-state operating mechanisms compatible with both AC and DC. Control is via the A1-A2 control supply voltage connection.

Maintainability:

Solenoid coils are replaceable on 3RT23 contactors. For 3RT233 contactors, contacts can also be replaced.

Auxiliary Contact Expansion:

The 3RT2346-1AG20 (a 3RT234 contactor) comes with two integrated auxiliary contacts (1 NO + 1 NC). All basic units can be expanded with additional auxiliary switches, subject to permissible configurations.
