From a technical viewpoint, a battery is a combination of several similar galvanic cells/elements that are connected in series.
Batteries can be composed of primary cells (not rechargeable) or secondary cells (rechargeable), which are also referred to as accumulators.
When an accumulator is charged, electrical energy is converted into chemical energy. When a load is connected to the battery, the chemical energy is converted back into electrical energy. The typical nominal voltage for an electrochemical cell, the efficiency and the energy density all depend on the type of materials used. If an accumulator remains unused, it loses some of its stored energy over time. This process is called "self-discharge". The extent to which this occurs depends on the type of storage and the age of the accumulator.
Note:
Transporting lithium batteries by air is not possible at all, or only feasible under restricted conditions.
