Function
The Siemens 3RT2025-1FB40 power contactor serves as an electromechanical switch. When the 24V DC control voltage is applied to its coil, it generates a magnetic field that closes the main contacts. This allows the high-power circuit (up to 17A, 7.5kW) to be energized, typically to start and stop a motor. The 1 NO (Normally Open) auxiliary contact closes simultaneously, while the 1 NC (Normally Closed) auxiliary contact opens, providing a change of state that can be used for feedback to a PLC, interlocks, or visual indicators. The plugged-in diode combination protects the control circuit from voltage spikes when the coil is de-energized.
