Overview
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RT2636-1AF03 is a specialized capacitor contactor designed for the reliable and efficient switching of capacitive loads. Part of the SIRIUS 3RT2 series, this model is engineered to handle AC-6b applications up to 50 kVAr at 400V.
It features a robust 3-pole design with a 110V AC, 50 Hz operating coil and comes equipped with 1 normally open (NO) and 1 normally closed (NC) auxiliary contacts. The S2 size and screw terminal connections ensure easy integration and secure wiring.
Key Features & Benefit
- Optimized for Capacitive Loads (AC-6b): Built with integrated precharging resistors that engage via leading auxiliary contacts. This design effectively limits the peak charging current of capacitors, minimizing voltage sags and stress on the power supply network.
- Enhanced Network Stability: By controlling inrush currents, the 3RT2636-1AF03 helps prevent disturbances in the electrical grid, protecting sensitive equipment and improving overall power quality.
- Robust and Reliable Operation: Designed and manufactured to meet stringent international standards, including IEC 60947 series and IEC 60831-1, ensuring long-lasting performance in demanding industrial environments.
- Easy Integration: The standard S2 size and screw terminals allow for straightforward installation and wiring into new or existing control panels.
- Flexible Functionality: Equipped with 1 NO and 1 NC auxiliary contacts, providing options for status indication, interlocking, and control circuit integration.
- Versatile Application: Ideal for use in reactive current compensation systems, where it reliably switches choked or unchoked capacitors, and also suitable for switching converters.
Functionality
The 3RT2636-1AF03 contactor operates by employing a unique switching sequence. When the coil is energized, leading auxiliary contacts close first, bringing precharging resistors into the circuit. This pre-charges the capacitors and limits the initial inrush current. Following this, the main contacts close, bypassing the resistors and allowing the full load to pass through. This intelligent design is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of power factor correction systems and other capacitive load applications.
