Overview
The Siemens 3RT2046-1AP60 is a high-performance, 3-pole power contactor from the globally renowned SIRIUS 3RT2 series, designed for reliable switching of motors and other high-load industrial applications. As part of the modular SIRIUS system, this Size S3 contactor offers a compact design with exceptional durability and high contact reliability. It meets the requirements for the efficient switching of IE3/IE4 motors (AC-3e/AC-3 utilization category).
Benefit
- High Performance in Compact Design: Delivers superior operational current (95A) and power (45kW) within a space-saving Size S3 frame, optimizing panel efficiency.
- IE3/IE4 Motor Ready: Complies with the stringent AC-3e/AC-3 utilization category for reliable and efficient switching of modern, energy-efficient motors.
- Modular and Flexible: Fully compatible with the SIRIUS modular system, allowing for easy assembly of load feeders with coordinated components like overload relays and auxiliary switch blocks.
- High Contact Reliability: Engineered for prolonged mechanical and electrical endurance, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Easy Wiring and Installation: Features robust screw terminals for secure, conventional wiring and is designed for quick integration into automation panels.
- Global Approval: Climate-resistant and approved for worldwide use (e.g., IEC and UL/CSA standards).
Function
The 3RT2046-1AP60 contactor’s primary function is to safely and reliably switch electrical power to a 3-phase motor.
- Switching: The 220V AC / 240V AC control voltage energizes the coil, causing the three main contacts (3 NO) to close, allowing the 95 A load current to flow to the motor.
- Motor Control: It acts as the core switching device in motor starter combinations (direct-on-line, reversing, etc.).
- Signaling: The integrated 1 NO + 1 NC auxiliary contacts provide feedback on the contactor’s state to a control system (e.g., PLC or indicator light) for interlocking or status monitoring.
