Protection of Device Connection: All connections must be protected against overload and short circuits. Protection against Overvoltage (Control Supply Voltage): The 3RT23 series contactors can be retrofitted with surge suppressors (RC elements, varistors, diodes, or diode assemblies) to dampen opening surges in the coil. These accessories must be ordered separately. Note that damping may increase break and delay time.

Connection Method:

  • Main Circuit: Screw terminal (specifically for 3RT231 and 3RT232 contactor).
  • Auxiliary and Control Circuit: Screw terminal.

Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC): The contactors fulfill the requirements for environment category A. When used with frequency converters, specific configuration notes in the Equipment Manual must be observed.

Operating Mechanism: This version features a conventional AC operating mechanism, controlled via the A1 – A2 control supply voltage connection.

Solenoid Coil & Auxiliary Contact Replacement: The solenoid coil can be replaced. For 3RT231 contactor, the basic unit includes one integrated auxiliary contact (1 NO).

Fitting Auxiliary Contacts & Mounting Additional Auxiliary Switches: The basic unit comes with an integrated auxiliary contact (1 NO). All basic units can be expanded with additional auxiliary switches, provided the permissible configuration is observed.
