Overview
- Used to terminate bus segments at rates of 9.6 kbps to 12 Mbps
- Power supply independent of the bus participants
Designed for Industry
- End-device independent bus termination thanks to own power supply

Application
The active RS 485 terminating resistor is used to terminate bus segments. The resistor is supplied with power independently of the bus nodes. The terminating resistor is hereby supplied separately from the other I/O components with a permanent voltage or with a voltage switched upstream of the I/O. By terminating the bus system, the nodes (e.g. ET 200SP) can be freely connected and disconnected without malfunctions.
Design
- 1 terminal block for the segment connection
- Terminal block for power supply (24 V DC external)
Function
The active RS 485 terminating element terminates the PROFIBUS and therefore ensures a defined level of the RS 485 signal and suppression of reflections on the line. Since it is operated independently of the field devices, they can be decoupled from the bus without reactions.
