Overview
The SIMATIC MTP Creator is a TIA Portal add-in that can be used to generate MTP files from the TIA Portal engineering environment. In addition, MTP files can be generated via a PowerShell script. This permits time-controlled file generation.
Function blocks and HMI user interfaces from the SIMATIC Control Function Library (CFL) and the SIMATIC Process Function Library (PFL) are used for generation. Customer libraries can also be used (depending on the version of the Creator).
The generated MTP files can later be imported into different Process Orchestration Layer (POL) systems by Siemens or other vendors. This saves time in engineering the POL system and reduces possible sources of error.
The SIMATIC MTP Creator implements the following Parts of the VDI/VDE/NAMUR 2658 guideline:
- Part 1: General concept and interfaces (V1.1.0 and V2.0.0 (as of MTP Creator V3.0))
- Part 2: Modeling of operating screens (V1.0.0)
- Part 3: Library for data objects (V1.0.0)
- Part 4: Modeling of module services (V1.0.0)
