SIEMENS SCALANCE X204RNA – 6GK5204-0BA00-2KB2
Managed redundant network access switch with 4x 100 Mbps RJ45 ports, supporting HSR and PRP redundancy protocols as per IEC 62439-3. Features include LED diagnostics, error signaling contact via SET button, redundant 24 V DC supply, network management, and optional C-PLUG. Manual supplied on CD-ROM.
Overview
The SCALANCE X204RNA enables high-availability industrial networking through support for both HSR (High-availability Seamless Redundancy) and PRP (Parallel Redundancy Protocol). It connects non-redundant devices into resilient topologies.
HSR Mode
- Enables seamless ring connections without reconfiguration delays
- Frames transmitted simultaneously in both directions
- Allows simple transition between HSR and PRP segments
PRP Mode
- Supports transmission of identical frames over two parallel networks
- No communication loss during individual network outages
- Allows non-PRP-capable devices to connect to redundant networks
Product Variants
- SCALANCE X204RNA (this unit): Plastic housing, 4x RJ45 (electrical), DIN rail mounting
- SCALANCE X204RNA EEC: Metal housing, 2x electrical terminal ports + 2x combo (RJ45/SFP) ports for optical/copper connections
- Wide-range power versions also available depending on application
- Optional: Define device behavior as PRP or HSR during initialization
