Function
- Switching Non-Inductive Loads (AC-1): Efficiently connects and disconnects resistive loads.
- Grid Disconnection: Capable of disconnecting loads or power generation plants from the electrical grid.
- Transfer Switching: Suitable for transfer applications.
- Control Circuit Integration: Auxiliary contacts facilitate integration into control and signaling circuits.
Standards & Protection:
The Siemens 3RT2336-1AB00 contactor adheres to rigorous international standards, including:
- IEC 60947-1
- IEC 60947-4-1
- IEC 60947-5-1 (for auxiliary switches)
Protection of Connections:
Proper protection of all connections is crucial for safe and reliable operation.
- Main Connections: Refer to the technical product data sheet for specific short-circuit and overload protection recommendations for free-standing contactors. For device combinations (contactor with overload relay or circuit breaker), consult the Digital Configuration Manual for load feeders or Configuration Manual for load feeders.
- Auxiliary Connections: Short-circuit and overload protection details for auxiliary contacts are available in the technical product data sheet.
- Control Supply Voltage Connections: Adhere to relevant standards and regulations for control panel configuration. Consider power supplies with current-limiting functions and select appropriate protection devices based on contactor load characteristics (inrush current, switch-on power, holding power). Refer to “Control panel tip – Selecting and dimensioning suitable power supplies quickly and reliably” for further recommendations.
Overvoltage Protection:
3RT23 contactors can be retrofitted with external surge suppressors (RC elements, varistors, diodes, or diode assemblies) to dampen opening surges in the coil. These accessories must be ordered separately. Note that damping may increase contactor break times and delay times for auxiliary contacts.
Connection Methods:
- Main Circuit: Screw terminals with box terminal. Direct connection to connecting bar is possible with cable lugs when the box terminal is removed.
- Auxiliary and Control Circuit: Screw terminals.
Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC):
The contactors meet the requirements for environment category A. When used with frequency converters, refer to the configuration notes in the Equipment Manual.
Contact Reliability of Auxiliary Contacts:
For switching voltages 110 V and currents 100 mA, the integrated auxiliary contacts ensure high contact reliability, particularly suitable for solid-state circuits with currents 1 mA at voltages of 17 V and higher.
Motor Protection:
For overload protection of 3RT23 contactors, compatible 3RU2 thermal overload relays or 3RB3 electronic overload relays can be mounted.
Operating Mechanism:
This 3RT23 contactor features a conventional AC operating mechanism, controlled via control supply voltage connections A1 – A2.
Maintenance & Expansion:
- Solenoid Coil Replacement: The solenoid coil for the 3RT2336-1AB00 can be replaced.
- Auxiliary Contact Configuration: This basic unit includes two integrated auxiliary contacts (1 NO + 1 NC). It can be expanded with additional auxiliary switches, adhering to permissible configurations. Refer to “Auxiliary switches, instantaneous → Overview” for detailed information.
- Accessories & Spare Parts: A wide range of accessories and spare parts are available for SIRIUS 3RT2 contactors and 3RH2 contactor relays.
