Overview
The Siemens 3RT2627-1AB05 is a high-performance SIRIUS 3RT26 capacitor contactor specifically engineered for switching capacitive loads in reactive current compensation systems. Designed to meet the demands of modern power systems, this contactor effectively handles AC-6b applications up to 25 kVAr at 400V. Its integrated precharging resistors, activated by leading auxiliary contacts, minimize inrush currents, protecting both the contactor and the power supply network from negative impacts.
This size S0 contactor features a robust design with a 24V AC, 50 Hz control voltage and screw terminals for secure and reliable connections. It comes equipped with 1 normally open (NO) and 2 normally closed (NC) free auxiliary contacts, providing flexibility for control and signaling applications.
Benefits
- Extended Equipment Lifespan: By limiting the peak charging current of capacitive loads, the 3RT2627-1AB05 minimizes stress on the contactor, capacitors, and the power grid, leading to a longer operational life for all components.
- Enhanced System Stability: The controlled switching of capacitive loads reduces voltage fluctuations and transients, contributing to a more stable and reliable power supply network.
- High Performance and Reliability: Built to stringent IEC standards (IEC 60947 series, IEC 60831, IEC 61921), this contactor ensures consistent and dependable performance in demanding industrial environments.
- Flexible Control and Monitoring: The inclusion of free 1 NO and 2 NC auxiliary contacts allows for easy integration into complex control circuits for status indication, interlocking, and other signaling functions.
- Simple and Secure Installation: The S0 size and screw terminal connections facilitate straightforward mounting and wiring, reducing installation time and ensuring a strong, vibration-resistant connection.
Function
The core function of the Siemens 3RT2627-1AB05 is to safely and efficiently switch capacitive loads in applications such as power factor correction. When the contactor is energized, leading auxiliary contacts close first, engaging precharging resistors that limit the initial high-inrush current to a safe level. Immediately after, the main contacts close, bypassing the resistors and providing the full current path to the capacitor bank. This two-step switching process is crucial for minimizing electrical stress and ensuring smooth operation. The contactor is suitable for switching both choked and unchoked capacitors and can also be used to switch converters.
Protection and Safety
All connections must be protected against short circuits and overload. Refer to the technical product data sheet for specific protection requirements for main, auxiliary, and control supply circuits. Surge suppressors (RC elements, varistors, etc.) are available as accessories for retrofitting to the coil circuit to dampen opening surges.
