Overview
The Siemens 3RT2936-1CB00 is a high-quality surge suppressor (also known as a transient suppressor) from the SIRIUS modular system, specifically designed to protect the control electronics of contactors from damaging voltage peaks. This model utilizes an RC element (Resistor-Capacitor circuit) which effectively dampens induction-related voltage surges that occur when the contactor coil is switched off. It is an essential accessory for extending the lifespan and ensuring the reliability of your control circuit components.
Benefit
- Enhanced Component Lifespan: By suppressing voltage peaks, the RC element prevents premature wear and damage to sensitive control components and contactor coils.
- Increased System Reliability: Minimizes unexpected shutdowns or failures caused by transient overvoltages, ensuring continuous operation.
- Wide Application Range: Compatible with both AC and DC control voltages across a broad range ().
- Quick & Easy Installation: Features a convenient clip-on design for fast and tool-free mounting directly onto the front of the compatible 3RT2.3 (Size S2) contactors.
- SIRIUS System Integration: Part of the globally recognized and modular Siemens SIRIUS industrial control system.
Function
The RC Element (Resistor-Capacitor) surge suppressor is connected in parallel with the contactor coil. When the power to the coil is interrupted, the coil’s magnetic field collapses, generating a high-voltage inductive spike (back EMF). The RC element works by providing an alternate path for the energy stored in the coil to dissipate slowly. The capacitor absorbs the high-frequency energy peak, and the resistor limits the discharge current, effectively dampening the surge and protecting the surrounding electrical components and control logic.
Compatibility
- Specifically for: Siemens SIRIUS Power Contactors 3RT2.3 (Contactor Size S2).
