Function / Features
The RC element operates as a passive filter. When the contactor coil is de-energized, the collapsing magnetic field induces a high reverse voltage spike (back-EMF). The Resistor (R) and Capacitor (C) network in the 3RT5956-1CD00 is connected in parallel with the coil to absorb this energy.
The capacitor temporarily stores the energy, and the resistor limits the discharge current, effectively rounding off the sharp voltage peak and reducing its magnitude to safe levels, thereby preventing component stress and electronic noise.
