The SM 1231 thermocouple modules enable temperatures to be measured with high precision using established thermocouples. In addition, low level analog signals in the Ā±80 mV range can be recorded. The SM 1231 thermocouple modules can be used with the CPUs of the S7-1200 series.
The SM 1231 thermocouple modules exhibit the same structural features as the other modules of the S7-1200 series:
Different measurement ranges:
Thermocouples of types J, K, T, E, R, S and N; analog signal recording Ā±80 mV.

Compensation of the cold connecting point:
Faults caused by contact voltages at the connection between thermocouple and module are prevented; when recording analog signals (Ā±80 mV), the compensation is automatically deactivated.
Temperature scaling:
The measured temperature can be shown in Ā°C or Ā°F.
