Siemens SIMATIC ET 200SP, TM PTO 2×24 V, interface module for stepper drives, 2 channels pulse train output, PTO: 24 V, 2 DI, 1 DQ 24 V DC per channel, suitable for BU type A0
Overview
- 2-channel interface module in ET 200SP for PTO (Pulse Train Output)
- Signal interface for speed and direction: 24 V asymmetrical up to 200 kHz
- 3 signal types can be configured:
- PTO pulse/direction:
The pulse signal defines the speed and distance and the direction signal determines the direction. - PTO count up/ count down:
A signal defines the pulses in the forward direction and the other signal defines the pulses in the reverse direction. - PTO A/B phase-shifted:
2 tracks are output, whose signals are phase-shifted by 90°. Based on the signal sequence, the direction, the distance and the speed can be determined. It can be selected whether a full period lasts for 1 increment or whether all 4 edge transitions will be counted.
- PTO pulse/direction:
- The pulses output are also counted internally in the module and signaled to the CPU as the current actual position.
- Supported technology objects:
- Speed axis (S7-1500, S7-1500T)
- Positioning axis (S7-1200, S7-1500, S7-1500T)
- Synchronous axis (S7-1500, S7-1500T)
- Probe (S7-1500, S7-1500T)
Application
The TM PTO 2x24V technology module enables drives with PTI interfaces (Pulse Train Input) to be controlled. 2 axes can be controlled independently. This means that with the axis technology objects of the SIMATIC S7-1500 and SIMATIC S7-1200 Controllers it is also possible to connect less sophisticated drives that do not have a PROFINET interface. Open-loop control and motion control take place in the CPU with the module converting the control data into digital signals.
Design
The TM PTO 2x24V features all the advantages of the ET 200SP design:
Suitable BaseUnits
The standard BaseUnits Type A0 of ET 200SP are available for connection. The individual signals of the PTO module are connected to the appropriate terminals.
A bright BaseUnit opens a new load group. The supply voltage must be fed in via this BaseUnit.
A dark BaseUnit forwards the supply voltage of the adjacent light BaseUnit on the left via self-assembling voltage buses. A new infeed is therefore only required on the next light BaseUnit to the right.
All variants that correspond to BaseUnit type A0 can be used as BaseUnits.
System-integrated shield connection
For the space-saving and EMC-optimized connection of cable shields, a shield connection is available that is quick and easy to mount. This consists of one shield connection element that can be plugged onto the BaseUnit and one shield terminal for each module. The low-impedance connection to the functional ground (DIN rail) does not require any additional wiring by the user.
Accessories (not included in the scope of supply of the module)
- Labeling strips
- Color-coded labels
- Equipment labeling plates
- Shield connection
Function
Interfaces for each axis:
- 2 digital outputs for speed as frequency and direction
- 1 digital output for “Enable Drive”
- 1 digital input for “Drive Ready”
- 1 digital input for a reference point switch
- 1 digital input for probe
Signal types;
data for speed and direction can be transmitted in various ways. There are 3 different signal types to choose from:
- Pulse and direction
- Pulses for forward movement and pulses for backwards movement
- Phase-shifted signals, as used by many incremental position encoders.
One complete period can be selected as 1 increment or one period can represent 4 increments. - Supported functions, controlled by the higher-level axis:
- Reference point approach
- Probe
- Control of the drive state via “Enable Drive” and “Drive Ready”
- Error handling
The TM PTO 2x24V is compatible with the technology objects of the S7-1500 and S7-1500T
- Positioning axis
- Speed axis
- Synchronous axis
- Probe
- Positioning axis of the SIMATIC S7-1200 Controller, FW V4.0 or higher
Uniform system functions of ET 200SP:
- Isochronous mode
- Module status display for DIAG (red-green LED)
- Channel status display for signal state log. “0” and log. “1” for digital inputs and outputs
- Display for monitoring the 24 V DC supply voltage (green LED)
- Identification and maintenance data
- Firmware update
