Overview
The CP50M1 communications module provides two PROFIBUS DP/MPI interfaces and an 8 MB interprocessor memory for inter-CPU communication. The interfaces can be used as PROFIBUS DP master, slave, as master and slave simultaneously or as MPI node.
Function
Functions of the MPI interfaces
- One MPI interface:
- PG/OP services can be used
- Status display via LEDs
The visualization components of the SIMATIC HMI such as WinCC or HMI devices can be connected via the MPI. The configuration workstation with CFC in test mode can be linked via this MPI interface.
Using the MPI, the PG and OP services i.e. service, commissioning and visualization, are supported but general process data exchange is not.
Functions of the PROFIBUS DP interfaces
- Up to 2 PROFIBUS DP interfaces:
- Max. transfer rate 12 Mbit/s
- Multimaster capability
- Up to 244 byte of useful data per node
- SYNC and FREEZE
- Shared Input
- Can also be used as slave
- Configuration in HW Config (DP master / DP slave)
- DP master supports acyclical services (reading / writing of acyclical data)
- Status display via LEDs
