The SIEMENS SIPART PS2 is a smart electropneumatic positioner built for precision control of pneumatic actuators in industrial environments. This single-acting model operates on a 4–20 mA signal with HART communication and features wear-free, non-contacting position detection (NCS) for long-term durability. Housed in a rugged aluminum enclosure, it’s ideal for both linear and part-turn actuators.

Standard version includes no explosion protection, with analog position feedback via Analog Output Module (AOM). The unit offers exceptional adaptability through its modular design, with options for further expansion including digital I/O modules, inductive and mechanical limit switches. The SIPART PS2 is fail-safe, depressurizing actuators upon auxiliary power failure. The model is also compatible with M12 device plugs and isolating power supplies.

Overview

SIEMENS SIPART PS2 positioners ensure reliable valve positioning based on incoming setpoint values. Diagnostic functions can be carried out both online and offline to improve operational efficiency and enable preventive maintenance. With optional pressure sensors, diagnostic capabilities are further enhanced, ensuring optimal process control.

Design

This positioner includes a modular structure designed for industrial automation systems:

  • Base plate and enclosure with or without inspection window
  • Electronics for 4–20 mA and HART, PROFIBUS PA, and FOUNDATION Fieldbus
  • Non-contacting sensor (NCS) or potentiometer for position feedback
  • Pneumatic block with right-side supply and actuator ports

Options include venting blocks, boosters, and interface extensions. Easy retrofitting of modules like Analog Output Module, Digital I/O, or limit switches adds operational flexibility. Remote mounting capability allows separate installation from the actuator, providing protection in extreme conditions.
