The SIEMENS SIPART PS2 is a smart electropneumatic positioner engineered for high-performance control of pneumatic actuators. Built for precision and reliability, it operates using a 4–20 mA signal in single-acting mode, with non-contacting position detection (NCS) ensuring wear-free operation over time.

This model features a polycarbonate enclosure and is compatible with linear and part-turn actuators. It offers fail-safe depressurization in case of power failure and provides analog position feedback via an integrated Analog Output Module (AOM). M12 device plug and isolating power supply are available optionally. This unit is supplied without explosion protection, limit monitor, or manometer block.

Overview

The SIPART PS2 series delivers highly accurate valve positioning based on setpoint specifications. It includes built-in online diagnostics, and additional functions can be integrated via optional pressure sensors. Ideal for continuous operation or batch process validation, it increases the efficiency and safety of valve operations.

Design

Each SIPART PS2 digital positioner includes:

• Base plate with protective lid (inspection window optional)
• 4–20 mA input, with or without HART; also supports PROFIBUS PA and FOUNDATION Fieldbus (FF)
• Position feedback via potentiometer or NCS
• Right-side pneumatic connections for supply and actuation

Optional expansion modules and functions:

• Analog Output Module (AOM): Position feedback (4–20 mA)
• Digital I/O Module (DIO): 3 digital outputs, 1 digital input for alarms and safety
• Inductive Limit Switches (ILS): 2 NAMUR-compliant, isolated limit signals
• Mechanical Limit Switches (MLS): 2 limit monitoring switches with integrated fault indicators

All modules are electrically isolated and self-signaling for fault detection. Installation flexibility is supported by the option for remote mounting of the position detection components, making this system ideal for challenging environments with vibration, radiation, or extreme conditions.
