Function

The Siemens 3RT26 contactors are special variants of the 3RT2 series, purpose-built for the switching of capacitive loads (AC-6b). Their primary function is to safely and efficiently connect and disconnect capacitors in reactive current compensation systems. The key to their operation lies in the leading auxiliary contacts, which close milliseconds before the main contacts. These auxiliary contacts first engage the integrated precharging resistors, which absorb the initial high inrush current from the capacitors. Once the inrush current is safely absorbed, the main contacts close, allowing the full current to flow.
