Protection & Safety:
Siemens contactors are designed with comprehensive protection in mind. For short-circuit and overload protection of main connections, refer to the technical product data sheet or the Digital/Configuration Manual for load feeders when combining with overload relays or circuit breakers. Auxiliary and control circuit connections should also be protected in accordance with relevant standards and regulations, potentially utilizing power supplies with current-limiting functions or suitable miniature/circuit breakers.
Overvoltage Protection: The 3RT23 contactors can be retrofitted with surge suppressors (RC elements, varistors, diodes, or diode assemblies) to damp opening surges in the coil. These accessories are ordered separately.
Motor Protection (for 3RT23 series): For overload protection, the 3RT23 contactors can be fitted with 3RU2 thermal overload relays or 3RB3 electronic overload relays.
Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC): The contactors fulfill the requirements for environment category A. When used with frequency converters, specific configuration notes in the Equipment Manual must be observed.
Auxiliary Contact Reliability: For switching voltages 110 V and currents 100 mA, the auxiliary contacts of 3RT contactors are designed for high contact reliability, particularly suitable for solid-state circuits with currents 1 mA at 17 V and higher.
Expandability and Accessories: This 3RT231 contactor includes one integrated auxiliary contact. All basic units can be expanded with additional auxiliary switches.
