WinCC Unified Clients
The WinCC Unified Client is the graphical interface for the WinCC Unified Runtime.
The WinCC Unified Client accesses the WinCC Unified Runtime via web mechanisms (on the Runtime Station itself or via a network) to operate and monitor machines and plants. Using the standard web mechanisms, the WinCC Unified images can be displayed on any PCs or mobile devices in the HTML5-capable browser.
No additional know-how of the web is necessary for engineering of the WinCC Unified Screens in the TIA Portal.
Two types of clients are available:
- WinCC Unified Client for operator control and monitoring processes
- WinCC Unified Client Monitor for monitoring only (View-Only)
Licensing
SIMATIC HMI Unified Comfort Panels:
A (Panel-based) license of the Panel is required for the WinCC Unified Client.
A WinCC Unified Client (Operate) license is already included with each Panel. It can be extended with the WinCC Unified Client licenses.
Three clients are permissible on the WinCC Unified Comfort Panel.
SIMATIC WinCC Unified PC:
A (server-based) license of WinCC Unified PC Runtime is required for the WinCC Unified Client.
Two WinCC Unified Client licenses and one WinCC Unified Client Monitor license are already included with each WinCC Unified PC Runtime licensing:
- For local operation on the runtime station
- For remote operation via an additional independent client.
- For local or remote monitoring via an additional independent Monitor client.
The client licenses are located on the WinCC Unified RT Station or the Unified Comfort Panel and are graded according to the number of simultaneous WinCC Unified web client access operations.
The number can be increased at any time via additive WinCC Unified Client licenses (countable licenses).
Version-independent license packages are available with 1, 3, 10, 30 or 100 WinCC Unified Clients or 1, 3, 10 WinCC Unified Monitor Clients.

- Write access to external tag connections is blocked
- Acknowledge and Reset of active alarms is blocked
- Commenting, deleting, releasing and locking of archived alarms is blocked
- Writing, correcting, commenting and deleting logged alarms is blocked
