Function

The Siemens 3RT2023-1AF00 power contactor functions as an electromechanical switch. When the 110 V AC control coil is energized, it closes the main power contacts, allowing current to flow to the connected load (e.g., an electric motor). Simultaneously, the integrated auxiliary contacts change state—the NO contact closes and the NC contact opens—to provide feedback to a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), control relay, or other circuit, indicating the status of the main contacts. When the coil is de-energized, the main contacts open, cutting off power to the load, and the auxiliary contacts return to their original state.
